AXA PPP healthcare is to provide full cover for licensed cancer drugs after removing all time and monetary limits on its standard policies for both individual and corporate customers.
Previously, the health insurance provider limited cover for cancer drug treatment to a year or the period of the drug licence - whichever was shorter.
However, the company will now cover treatment with these drugs for as long as the patient needs them, including highly expensive superdrugs which are not readily available on the NHS.
For cancer treatment, AXA PPP is also waiving any monetary limits on outpatient tests and consultations, and will pay £150 towards wigs and up to £5,000 to cover the cost of external prostheses such as eyes or limbs.
In addition, the companys Dedicated Nurse helpline has been extended to include policyholders diagnosed with a heart condition, as well as members undergoing treatment for cancer, and both will now be covered for follow-up tests and consultations to monitor their progress and recovery.
Fergus Craig, AXA PPP commercial director, said: "We want our members to be confident that, if they need treatment for cancer or a heart problem, we are committed to supporting them not just by settling their medical bills but also by helping them through our dedicated nurse service and by providing additional benefits that can help to make life a little easier when they need it most."
